Bailey Community Advocates for Local Healthcare Access

Residents of Bailey, Colorado, are rallying to establish a local health service district to improve healthcare access in the community. The proposed Platte Canyon Health Service District aims to provide consistent, reliable healthcare services to Bailey and surrounding areas, including Shawnee, Grant, and Pine Junction.

The initiative, now in its third year, is driven by community volunteers who are advocating for the proposal to be placed on the ballot. A public hearing is scheduled for March 16th at noon in Fairplay, where the Park County Board of County Commissioners will consider the proposal.

If approved, the health service district would offer a permanent, full-time family clinic in the Bailey area, providing local access to primary care, urgent care, mental health services, lab work, and X-rays. The clinic would accept all insurance types, including Medicare and Medicaid, and be governed by an elected, unpaid five-member board.

Community members are encouraged to participate in the upcoming public hearing and support the establishment of the health service district, which aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality for residents of Bailey and neighboring communities.
